Webinar Recap: Your Route to Oracle PLM Cloud – Modern Business, Modern Cloud

Apr 5, 2019 9:10:50 AM

Every business has its own way of handling product data. While being unique is important in individualization, this prevents effective collaboration and information sharing. PLM SME (Subject Matter Expert) Tom Nelson led our GoSaaS Webinar on 2/28, describing how the cloud fits into your PLM strategy and processes. Through the Oracle PLM Cloud, you can unify the entirety of your product and supply chain processes on one integrated platform – from ideation to commercialization. The benefits are numerous, including a reduction of costs from prototyping and scrapping, centralizing data, improvement on internal and external collaboration throughout the entire product lifecycle and an entire process automation leading to a faster time to market/launching.

GoSaaS is perfectly aligned for your PLM project, with over two hundred fifty implementations and one hundred twenty employees, we have been a top PLM partner for a decade. Our unique library of personalized products provide faster solutions. Our main focus is the migration of legacy PLM customers to Oracle PLM Cloud. One of the products we covered during the webinar session is the GoSaaS Employee Training System (ETS) for employee training records management. It has an easy-to-use interface for training managers to use the employee dashboard, making training a breeze for both employers and employees.

The typical timeline for a PLM Cloud implementation  takes anywhere from twelve to sixteen weeks. The first two weeks involve planning and gathering information, and the following four to eight weeks include migration workshops and training, with detailed customizations to fit each customers’ business model. The following few weeks involve data loading and testing, end user training and finally, go-live/stabilization as the final step.

Another product GoSaaS offers is our Environmental Governance & Compliance (EG&C), integrated with the Oracle Product Data Hub (PDH) as its data source. It gives a precise view into the Product Environmental Governance & Compliance information. As mentioned via Tom Nelson, PLM SME and GoSaaS Partner during the webinar, “the Oracle PD and PDH products will perform the data gathering and storage for the EG&C application, and this application will provide Part, Substance, Subpart, Material, Homogeneous, and IPC1752 declarations.”

We received great feedback regarding the presentation from listeners, and had the opportunity to reach out directly with answers, shown below.

Q: How can we start using Quality Management, we already have PD/PIM setup. Do we need to set up Quality Management ourselves?

A: The Quality module is already installed in your environment. You will need to work with Oracle to pay for licenses. GoSaaS does workshops and training to tailor the module to your exact needs.

Q: Are PX customizations available in the PLM Cloud?

A: Yes, now referred to as PAAS - Platform as a Service.

Q: How do you integrate data to other systems, SaaS or on-prem?

A: Depending on which system you are using, each with their respective requirements, there is an adaptor that connects to the on-prem tool and allows you to perform attribute mapping from one system to the other. It helps promote self-sufficiency moving forward.
